Review of The Guard (2011) by Jared H — 15 Mar 2014
The Guard in the tradition of Quentin Tarrantino comes a profane, funny, crime film. Brendan Gleason is hilarious, burly and cool as the guard (Irish town cop.) who loves his mother, saves up for prostitute days off, and doesn't give a damn about police corruption.
He won't take bribes, or cave to threats of violence, and he doesn't worry about it that much. Throw into the mix Don Cheadle of the FBI over from America to help bust a drug ring, and minor hilarity ensues with the guard's casual ignorance and racism toward black people.
They form a perfect odd couple in this gem of an R rated crime caper film. Must see if you like Tarantino, you will love this.
