Review of The Guard (2011) by Rodrigo G — 03 Aug 2012
The Guard has a fantastic, layered performance by the always excellent Brendan Gleeson who manages to get the most laughs for me and Don Cheadle who makes some excellent chemistry with Gleeson. But it suffers from very annoying characters (Sheehy), underused ones too (Mark Strong could have done a pretty quirky villain), predictable twists, the pace makes the movie drag at one point in the middle and the writing by McDonagh just didn't had me laughing as much and consistently as his brother's In Bruges did.
