Review of The Grudge (2004) by Simon C — 18 Aug 2010
My god, what a gripping and scary film this is. I have to admit, the first time I watched this I spent most of the time hidden behind my pillow. From the very beginning 'The Grudge' is full of suspense and there were so many times that I jumped. Like most horror films it has it's ridiculous and predictable moments, but this is still an incredibly creepy film. The croaking noise is chilling and that girls face wouldn't leave my mind once I'd gone to bed, and jesus, even your beds not safe!
Sarah Michelle Gellar puts in a surprisingly decent performance in, but there seems to be no explanation as to why she does not die, despite the fact she's the one who spends the most time in the house. This is probably not the scariest film I've ever seen, but it is so gripping and creepy at times. Definitely worth a watch.
