Review of The Grudge (2004) by Nicole G — 03 Oct 2012
While having some really creepy scares, the film overall doesn't outdo the original Japanese version. While the Japanese version would be more subtle with it's scares allowing atmosphere to build tension, the American version over uses the music score.
In terms of acting, Sarah Michelle Gellar isn't good in this movie at all. The big star for me was Ryo Ishibashi (Audition, Suicide Club), I was very surprised he was in this movie and kept the film going for me.
