More or less a faithful retelling with some very smart filler to expand the story. The film does spit it's time somewhat with a new sub-plot involving Cindy Lou, who played a minor role in the short story.
Its sweet but she's not quite as interesting as the Grinch. But overall this is a fun and satisfying adaption with more than a few laughs..
