Review of The Grey Zone (2001) by Felicia H — 21 Jun 2008
"The Grey Zone" ties "Sophie's Choice" as the most depressing Holocaust film I have yet to see. Unlike "Schindler's List," "The Devil's Arithmetic," or "The Pianist" there is no relatively happy ending for the characters involved.
For this reason, the moral dilemmas the characters find themselves in seem all the more gritty and real. Although the dialogue can be glaringly Hollywood at times, the storyline stays true to its real life counterpart and delivers a genuine feeling of hopelessness.
