Review of The Grey (2012) by Kale J — 17 Oct 2014
No one gets this movie, and I love it. The point is that there is nothing to save us, nothing we can do, when it is our time we die, and if we give up it's worse than if we live through the worst of it.
After losing on a battle field where he was weak, his wife's health, he is caught thinking of how he was to blame. He returns to an environment where he is most confident and effective, where his skills are necessary, a strong protective survivalist.
He still can't save people or himself. The moral of the story: that how hard you try doesn't matter to the outcome, what matters is character. What would you do, when the odds are stacked against you? When you have only one way to maintain control.
..give up and allow others to take you or fight, tooth and nail, maintaining integrity/dignity?
