Review of The Green Mile (1999) by Katherine P — 02 Jun 2012
Based on Stephen King's serial thrillers, The Green Mile is a thoughtful and intelligent film with a soulful cast and brilliant direction. While the length may be a deterrent for some viewers, it's impossible to look away from this eerie and often funny tale.
The Green Mile explores a tremendous range of kindness and cruelty by developing unforgettable characters who make the message reach far beyond prison walls. Some viewers may find this film frustrating for it's lack of credibility and an obvious sense of self-importance but ultimately, it will be tough for anyone to resist the powerful emotions this film inspires within us all.
