The Green Mile is an interesting yarn, though the material is really not worthy of 3 hours. There's a lot of fat in here that really should have been trimmed, but with Tom Hanks as the leading man it's not as noticeable.

Surprisingly despite the run time, there's still missing character background for various inmates and prison guards which might have been more interesting than some of the longer aimless scenes. The characters that are highlighted are done very well, and the acting of both minor and major roles is superb.

It's definitely a moving film, especially when it comes down to the electrocution scenes and the murder flashbacks, but there's some over-dramatization at times which makes it feel less authentic.
