Review of The Green Mile (1999) by Ransom F — 16 Feb 2014
A full fledged five stars.
The movie is beautiful. Each actor fits the roles they are handed as if it were a shoe tailored to their feet. The atmosphere is an excellently set prison environment. Emotion fills the area you sit in as you watch this beautiful movie. The story has an amazing path, it's ups and downs make it feel like a three hour version of life.
This film has the ability to suck you in until the credits roll. You'll be stuck in your seat for the longest time, just staring at the screen in awe of the masterpiece you are watching.
Each character has their own personality. You know who to love, you know who to hate, and you know who to be decisive with.
To this day, no one, not even author Stephen King or director Frank Darabont knows what the story means. And we like it that way. No one knows the meaning of life, either. And because of that, in a sense, this movie IS life.
And it certainly is a masterpiece, right up their with Citizen Kane and The Godfather.
