Review of The Greatest Story Ever Told (1965) by Anton B — 03 Jun 2008
Aside from a few sublime images and moments, the film is for the most part colourless, static, and slow. An awkward revision of the biblical narrative. Max von Sydow plays a good Jesus though. John Wayne's cameo as a Roman soldier at the Crucifixion is laughable.
