Review of The Greatest Showman (2017) by Jason J — 19 Feb 2018
This is a case where the whole is greater than the sum of the parts. It's not a deep, moving story. Music is somewhat routine. Performances are ok. It's not accurate and it's chock full of anachronisms.
But none of that matters. It's just fun. A toe-tapping and clapping sing-along that lets the viewer escape the world for a hundred minutes. The greatest irony is that the interaction between critics and viewers seem to be playing out nearly identical to the interaction between Barnum and a theater critic in the film.
