Review of The Greatest Showman (2017) by Jonathan G — 25 Mar 2018
This is not the best film in terms of story or structure, but in terms of pure joy and entertainment, this was without a doubt my favorite film of 2017. I don't care about the portrayal of P.T Barnum, I don't care if the film is historically inaccurate, the film is pure fun and a delight to watch. I'm not a huge fan of musicals but the soundtrack and the choreography are fantastic! The film knows it's not accurate and it doesn't even try to be, the film even mocks itself with some of it's dialogue "Does it bother you that everything you're selling is fake?".
"Do these smiles seem fake? It doesn't matter where it comes from the joy is real.".
