Review of The Greatest Showman (2017) by Jason E — 11 Jun 2018
Guaranteed, if the critics hate it and the audience loves it, I'll side with the audience. Every song and dance was enthralling, and the film, overall, was pure fun. Critics attack it's authenticity, and perhaps the greatest musical ever, The Sound of Music, was highly inaccurate.
This was of course, historical fluff, with modern song and dance mixed in; but presents a compelling theme of rising above your stereotypes (poor, different, invisible), showing pride, and seizing your opportunities.
If you want pure accuracy, go watch Dunkirk. If you want The Music Man 2 (in essence), go see The Greatest Showman. Check the stick for your butt at the door.
