Review of The Great Ziegfeld (1936) by Private U — 15 Jul 2007
It's a bit too long and unbalanced, but still impressive. There are a lot of great scenes (including Rainer's classic phone conversation with Powell). Rainer is especially effective as one of Powell's wives.
And you get some nice Loy-Powell interaction towards the end, so there's an added bonus. Oh, and Fanny Brice. Another reason to watch it.
