Review of The Great Wall (2016) by Marie C — 24 Feb 2017
All the critics are looking at is the players in the film. The cinematography and CGI are very similar in quality to Lord of the Rings.
But script is not bad. How could it be, with Tony Gilroy as one of the writers? You remember Tony Gilroy-that guy who got an Academy for "Michael Clayton" and wrote scripts for several of the Ludlum "Bourne" series movies. I enjoyed the exchanges in the film. It wasn't forced, and even had its moments of levity. If you liked Lord of the Rings, you will like this. I went in to the movie not expecting much because of the critics, but came out of the theater having really enjoyed The Great Wall much more than I anticipated.
