I really enjoyed it. Don't expect an American action movie with Chinese actors despite Matt Damon headlining. It is first and foremost a Chinese action movie with American actors, which means visually stunning scenes and over-the-top acting from the majority of the cast. And yes, the plot is trite but what else would you expect under the premise that the Great Wall was used to keep something out.
Go in expecting all that and you'll enjoy it as well.
