Review of The Great Silence (1968) by John M — 17 Oct 2007
Mmmm spaghetti...but a different flavor of spaghetti. Yes, I suppose Corbucci is a poor man's Leone, but he makes great work nevertheless. This is different than any other Western you've ever seen.
For one thing, there's no sand, only snow. It's also not a lot of fun like, say, A Professional Gun; it's more serious. The wintery Utah landscape is very bleak, to say the least. All that aside, it is still terrific.
If you're a big Western fan like me, this is a must-see. Has one downer of an ending, though.
