Review of The Great Raid (2005) by Antwan J. J — 01 Aug 2009
Although this movie was based on an often overlooked facet of WWII, poor writing, a slow pace and merely adequate acting sabotages its huge potential. I started wondering if I should count the number of times a character clumsily used the word "ain't.
" The writing never permitted me to really know or care about a single Allied character, although the horrific Japanese stereotypes could lead the simple-minded to justify racism. I love well-made war movies, but I just can't recommend this one.
