Review of The Great Raid (2005) by Tibo B — 15 Jan 2006
I was looking into who J. Franco was, looked familiar but couldn't remember which film/s I'd seen him in, when I saw that The Great Raid got 35%. That's crazy. This film isn't a masterpiece but it is a fairly good movie. I saw it in the theater when it came out and thought the storyline with the nurse was a little annoying, or maybe it was just her, but the film on the whole is directed quite well and contains many solid performances as well - maybe not award worthy but with two exceptions, (Connie N., and K. Rippa's husband aren't very good but don't suck - I forget both actors' full names), all the rest of the actors do fine jobs. I saw this movie again on dvd because my boyfriend hadn't seen it yet and wanted to watch it. I still thought it was pretty good the second time around and my boyfriend liked it too.
Please don't let the crappy rating deter you from seeing it; even though it's maybe not the best war film, it won't waste your time. I was really surprised to see it got such a low rating.
