Considering Baz Luhrmann wrote and directed my all-time favorite movie, my expectations were high for The Great Gatsby. Man-oh-man was I disappointed. This movie tried so hard to grab me and make me adore it.
And I tried so hard to love it. But nope. Nothing. The style is 100% Baz Luhrmann, but a bit flat. And Tobey Maguire did absolutely nothing for the movie. He was just... blah. I suppose if you want a visually beautiful movie without much oomph, this is it.
I was just expecting more.
