Review of The Great Gatsby (1974) by Peter N — 05 Aug 2008
One of the greatest books ever written surely deserves better than this miserable film. Redford and Farrow have no chemistry... the movie relies on recreating the style and costumes of the 20s rather than the substance of the story.
The film has also dated particularly badly since the 70s, particularly the score.
Notable only for Patsy Kensit's first film role as Daisy's little girl.
