Review of The Great Gatsby (1974) by Jack V — 24 Apr 2011
Now, I'm all for film adaptations of books that are faithful to the source material. in fact I usually wonder why it seems so hard for films (both in the past and present) to do that. Well, "The Great Gatsby" has given me the reason why.
I swear, you can almost read the book along with the film at the beginning, but just because it's a decent adaptation, that does not excuse the poor wooden acting, notably from Bruce Dern, who did not (in the critic's opinion) represent a true portrayal of Tom Buchanan.
There are even flashback scenes that people in my English class nitpicked about before I could, involving Daisy turning her car around...I don't get it and quite frankly my readers I don't give a darn.
It's not Bad...buts it not Good... I give it 3 Dr. T.J. Eckleburg eyes out of five....let's pretend that makes sense, ok?
