Review of The Great Escape (1963) by Stuart J. P — 14 Nov 2008
No matter how many times you watch this it can't fail to thrill. Often touted as a Steve McQueen movie, When in fact he's not really the major player in it. (the coolest. Without a doubt. But not the star) It's a character piece and what superb characters they are.
It deserves it's place in history among the classics, True some of it is very dated, but it holds up so well, with the best bits it's hard to fault. I loved watching it again. And in 2008 that really is saying something.
