Review of The Great Escape (1963) by Ben D — 06 Jun 2012
I would say that much of the 2hrs and 50 minutes is unnecessary, and the movie could have been cut down quite a bit, but most of the length only helps the character development. There are so many different well-portrayed characters in the Great Escape.
Mcqueen is pretty damn awesome but the rest of the cast does a fantastic job. It's clever, fun, and compelling. Overall, one of the better pictures out there, despite the lengthiness.
