Review of The Great Escape (1963) by Ryan F — 24 Nov 2009
I have a lot of respect for "the Greatest Generation." The guys (and gals on the homefront, for that matter) who gave up so much to confront evil represent the best of America. That's one of the reasons I like this movie so much.
Even though these guys are in prison behind enemy lines they are still willing to put their lives on the line for liberty. Plus, the cast is all-star. Steve McQueen, James Coburn, Charles Bronson, James Garner.
..it doesn't get better than that. Jam packed with tension, action, and a touch of humor, the Great Escape is a must in any classic movie collection.
