Review of The Great Ecstasy of Robert Carmichael (2005) by Pieter-Jan V — 20 Jun 2008
What attempts to be a new Clockwork Orange has brief moments of brilliance and genuine confrontational brutal honesty but ultimately fails. The glimpses we have of the vile characters are too brief, with no insight into the 'lead' character which leaves the viewer with a youth film with random scenes of sexual violence inserted.
The 'chill out' scene in the flat however does provide a scene which really delivers a blow to the stomach by hiding the action.
