Review of The Great Dictator (1940) by Nathalie G — 01 Aug 2008
Beautiful film. The contrast between brutality and humanity in this movie is so much that you can't help but feel a pull at your heartstrings. Every scene was wonderful and necessary to get the message across.
Chaplin is a genius and had insight into and revulsion to the cruelty of a dictator at a time when most of the world was turning a blind eye to it. The humor and the drama complete this masterpiece.
