Review of The Great Debaters (2007) by Melanie D — 11 Nov 2008
This was really, really good. Despite the fact that I can't stand racism in any form (toward blacks OR whites, and anyone in between), and it definitely portrays the white community as hating blacks (hey, not ALL of us do, ok!).
..there were lots of great quotes here, lots of great moments in their speeches, lots of greatness all around. Superb acting on several counts. Very uplifting, moving, inspirational. :) (Oh and I think it's neat that Whitaker's own son in real life played not only in the movie with him, but AS his son there, too! And not only that.
..but he named his son Denzel, and here they are acting with the original Denzel himself!).
