With an inspiring true story, a powerful script written by Robert Elsele, good dialogue, an amazing cast headed by Oscar winners Denzel Washington and Forest Whitaker which also includes Nate Parker (in his first film role) and an interesting appearance by John Heard (Home Alone, Big), great directing by Denzel Washington, interesting scenes that put you in the time period and a pace and flow that is long but fine, The Great Debaters will have you inspired and root for the characters from start to finish.
