Review of The Great Beauty (2013) by Ana V — 18 Apr 2015
The Great Beauty is a sumptuous feast for the eyes. Visually stunning and eternally entertaining it is also a film infused with sadness. We follow Jep, a one time novelist who now plays the social stage in Rome.
He has a luxurious life but ponders the meaning of it. As we travel with him we meet the characters of Rome and primarily the 'great beauty' of Rome. This unique film is filled with strange and beautiful scenes and characters.
There are many monologues that provoke thought but above all it is feast for the eyes.
