Review of The Grapes of Wrath (1940) by Dennis L — 23 Apr 2009
The movie has a surreal contemplation in the cinematography much the same way that Laughton used the almost cartoon-like ethereal qualities of his sets in The Night of the Hunter. Henry Fonda is brilliant, as always.
I haven't read the book, but it seems that's a good thing given some reviews which suggest that it may be hard to judge this movie without being affected by having read the book.
