A more positive view of Steinbeck's novel, and more focused on the unity of the family rather than its struggle to survive in such despicable conditions. I honestly am somewhat disapointed on how the film turned out to be, way far from the book concept and symbolism.
I can't really blame anyone though, except maybe classic Hollywood with its conservative ideals and prodution codes.
