Review of The Grapes of Wrath (1940) by June P — 22 Mar 2009
This film puts the Great Depression into perspective. It's hard to identify with a time until you see people living with those times. Even though these are fictional people they are so broadly written that it feels as though they are real.
What I was most amazed by in this movie is that these people try to "make it" by being honest. I also liked how they showed how the common man was brow-beaten by the state authorities. The poor were barely given a chance at this time and it's amazing people survived at all.
It's not surprising that force was used and necessary to provoke change from the government.
