Review of The Grandmaster (2013) by Akko T — 29 May 2013
I probably thought i'd never see the day wong kar wai made the already done to death ficitionalised versions of Ip Man but he did. The story is akin to his direction, slow, draggy and sacrificing time for stylisation.
It's very sporadic and most times you're wondering if you are indeed watching an Ip Man fiction or a pseudo romantic kicker. In the end it was a mix of both, not his masterpiece but you get a sense that he invoked his presence in there.
