Review of The Grandmaster (2013) by Peter F — 12 Sep 2013
Wong Kar Wai is one of the most celebrated living Asian directors, and his sense for capturing beauty is ever present in this film's fight scenes. Choreographed with such aplomb and mastery, it makes one wonder why it took so long for the auteur to do a "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon".
The plot's story though, is very messy, jumping all over the place and even hopelessly muddled at times. Fans of martial arts films should still if for it's wonderful action set pieces, but those looking for a well-told tale should look elsewhere.
