An English speaking Canadian version of a French speaking Canadian film released in 2003, The Grand Seduction is the story of how the small community of an harbour tries to 'seduce' a doctor into believing that little Tickle Head could be his dream home, in order to fulfil the requirements needed to bring a factory over and ensure their preservation.
There is nothing special about this film, one of many that seeks to pay tribute to rural lifestyle but also its adaptation to modern times requirements. It's a feel good film with some charming moments and some likeable performances by the always imposing presence of Brendan Gleeson and Taylor Kitsch, the latter cast against type and quite convincing as the Dr.
Lewis.
