Review of The Grand Budapest Hotel (2014) by Alexis T — 22 Jan 2015
I give it 5 stars because it completely transported me into the world Anderson created for this movie. Normally, I cringe at the repetitive themes Anderson uses. This time I found myself appreciating them.
Visually this film is breathtaking and highly memorable. He uses aspect ratios to differentiate between the multiple stories and I loved that. The hotel itself looks like something you would imagine out of a fantasy novel.
The chase scenes were reminiscent of silent comedy. I was laughing and following the characters every move. This film is a joyful experience with an attention-holding story that will not disappoint.
