Review of The Graduate (1967) by Parker S — 05 Jul 2012
Dustin Hoffman is obviously great in the role and that is for many reasons. He portrays the unsureness and nervousness of a boy in such a wild situation with realism. Its at times painfully awkward to watch, but that is part of why it is so good.
The movie has a few rough patches, but overall The Graduate deserves the title of a classic even if its not perfect. Its really the little things though; the clever editing, the Simon and Garfunkel soundtrack, the unexpectedly swervy story and the subtle messages.
It all adds up to a great movie.
