Review of The Graduate (1967) by Mglovesfun — 26 Feb 2020
Honestly, this movie starts slowly (there's very little plot for the first hour) and I was hoping for some pay off in the last 45 minutes, but no! It makes very little sense.
Mrs. Robinson accuse him of rape, and her daughter Elaine is happy to walk into his bedroom and shut the door behind her, and is convinced it's not rape after he says one sentence. Her husband also enters Ben's bedroom and his polite to Ben, where a more believable reaction would be to punch him in the face and call the police. Why is Mrs. Robinson so against Ben dating her daughter in the first place? We never find out.
The characters actually have no depth (Mrs. Robinson's really just a sex object). It's actually badly written and badly directed.
