Review of The Graduate (1967) by Simon H — 19 Jun 2014
I really can't find anything that I can fault in The Graduate. Not too long and not too short, the movie gives you a simple story which is both easy to follow and enjoyable to watch. The script is written well and not too dated compared to today. The film does not take itself too serious and inject a number of humorous lines and jokes. What really makes the script work is the characters represented. Dustin Hoffman is fantastic in the lead role. His nervous personality comes out perfectly and you find yourself rooting for him right till the end. Every character featured seems to have something to offer the film and adds to the enjoyment.
The music also plays a major part in the movie. The various Simon & Garfunkel songs placed over major scenes just adds to the general feel and emotions of the characters. It would have been nice to have heard Mrs. Robinson played more but that's just a personal issue.
The Graduate is an enjoyable film that really surprised me.
