Superbly constructed, brilliantly acted, and amazingly pictured, The Graduate deals with adolescent development, adultery, marital crisis and identity crisis. It is a superb film, and I believe The Graduate is cinema at its best.
Anne Bancroft and Dustin Hoffman deliver amazing knockout performance in this youth rebellious, coming of age story about a middle aged seductive woman lusting over a freshly graduated young man. The film is absolutely loaded with tongue in cheek humour, witty and sharp dialouge, brilliant acting and some very funny moments.
It is very ambigious and ambitious and while it is considered a comedy, it is also mixed with some very emotional themes and tones, as well as leaving you without closure, as the ending has no definitive conclusion.
However, The Graduate is a masterpiece in so many ways. It allows you to leave your life for 90 minutes and just have fun, and thats what this movie is.. A fun filled, humorous film which does not take itself seriously, but at the same time does.
I advice it very highly. A MUST SEE.
