Review of The Graduate (1967) by Adrian Z — 05 May 2014
Off-beat coming-of-age drama comedy, centered around a funny performance from Dustin Hoffman as a painfully awkward, 20-year old virginal college graduate who is seduced into an affair by an older woman (Anne Bancroft, in a commanding performance).
Complications of all sorts ensue when Hoffmann eventually gets to know her daughter (lovely Katherine Ross) and develops feelings for her. Mike Nichol's film making language set trends, and Paul Simon's dreamy songs (performed with Art Garfunkel) are memorable.
