Review of The Gore Gore Girls (1972) by Christophe M — 05 Apr 2011
I had a very hard time finding entertainment in this 1972 schlocky gore classic. It is known as a classic because it was the only movie by this director to have received an X rating. Honestly, I can't imagine why.
Sure, the gore was occasionally disturbing, but it was often too fake to take seriously. Despite the gore, nudity, and humor, I just had a hard time liking this movie. Even Henny Youngman's presence did not help much.
The slow pace, fake-looking gore, embarrassing dancing, and an unlikable main character had me wanting it to end a good 30 minutes before it actually did. I have enjoyed a number of cheesy, low budget horror movies over the years, but this one fell short.
