This will have to go down as one of the greatest kids films of all time. The concept is what all youngsters dream of as a child - going on a treasure hunt with just your mates, and no adults. In this case, they're hoping they will find the gold needed to prevent their houses being repossessed, but hot on their case of course are the loveable baddies, the Fratelli's, that are not so mean as they are useless, but that just adds to the family fun of this film.

This movie also possesses one of the most unforgettable character's in Sloth, who is the gentle giant that with his 'hey you guys' chant, has one of the simplest, but most memorable lines in history, and develops a unique and wonderfully loving relationship with Chunk.

The diverse cast offers so much variety by way of a fat one, a gobby one, a geeky one, a macho one, and one with all the gadgets, and each has an equal amount of screen time in which to amuse us. The film is just one big pirate adventure with nonstop booby traps, laughs, fantasy, and action, for which you couldn't ask for a better two hours.

In a sense, it's one of those classics which would warrant a documentary of the 'where are they now' type having spring boarded some of its stars to Hollywood success, but I doubt anyone would ever dare risk a remake, as it would be ridiculed and hated before anyone's even had chance to see it.

It's one of those films which you can watch over and over again, and if you haven't seen it yet, you can't have had a normal childhood!
