Review of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) by Neal P — 21 Mar 2014
This is in my opinion one of the the most overrated films of all time. I know there are many people and critics alike who adore this film, so when I sat down to watch it for the first time I was really excited.
I can not remember a time a movie has let me down so much. The biggest issue I had with this movie is that it commits the cardinal sin of film. It is Boring. Now I have heard people tell me that I just don't appreciate the subtle nature of this film, but I say that this film is not subtle its just boring.
I had to stop this movie and walk away four different times before I finally finished it. There were also many occasions that I would shout at the screen "Do Something!" to no avail. It's not the worst movie I have ever seen but it might be the most disappointing.
If you love this movie, that is great, but if you have never seen it and someone says, "You have to watch this, it's a classic." You might want to remember that classic does not always mean great.
