Review of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) by Cole E — 12 Aug 2013
Simply put, it's the best western ever made. It has the best musical score, the best cinematography, and the best mood setting of any western. Ennio Morricone has composed some of the best musical scores for westerns and many other genres, but "The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly" has the most famous score of all time; we've all heard that classic pre-shootout soundbite.
The music really helps provide a great mood to each scene; certain scenes are elongated with not much going on on the screen and with the music blaring. This makes the scenes build up an intensity that I've never experienced before.
Every scene has something to offer and the movie never gets boring. The film is one of the most influential movies ever made, plus, it really helps knowing that this film inspired Quentin Tarantino to get into film-making.
It's a must see for any fan of westerns or classic films.
