Review of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) by Kasey C — 28 Mar 2014
I am ashamed of myself for not watching this movie for so long, it really is the classic it's hailed to be.
Partly, my procrastination was due to not being a huge fan of the Western genre, bar Butch Cassidy, Dances With Wolves, Unforgiven, The Wild Bunch and a handful of others. Sergio Leone's The Good, The Bad & The Ugly blows all the others out of the water. This really is the best western ever.
The Good, The Bad & The Ugly are Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach, respectively, but it has to be said that this movie is stolen by Eli Wallach- a character you really want to get his comeuppance, but when it finally does you feel sorry for him.
The final Mexican stand off is one of the best scenes I've seen on film, ever.
Ennio Morricone's music needs no explanation as to why it's one of the all time classic movie themes.
