Review of The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966) by Edgar C — 06 Aug 2012
THIS IS THE GREATEST FILM IN THE HISTORY OF MOVIES!!! Sure, it's chock full of anachronisms to an amateur Old West historian, BUT WHAT WESTERNS ARE TOTALLY ACCURATE???
I would do anything short of selling my soul to meet Sergio Leone when he was filming this. The sparse landscapes of the Western US (actually, Spain, but still...) are a stark contrast to the rich characters and story of this classic "yarn". There was no needless love interest like so many Westerns of it's vintage.
I wish that more people would appreciate the perfection that is "il Buono, il Brutto, il Cattivo" (The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly). Sadly, more people are focused with the dribble that most movies are now. I do not dare call them films. They lack the substance the Leone was known for.
