Review of The Good Shepherd (2006) by Miranda G — 25 Feb 2010
8.2/10- A film for the movie-goer who has a brain. The Good Shepherd is a stand-out flick whose plot isn't force-fed and will have you thinking of all the angles on your own. This movie is well worth the watch for the patient viewer.
If you don't mind sticking through it for 2 hours and 48 minutes, you're in for a good movie. Being the second shot at directing, Robert DeNiro delivered a winner. This movie follows the life of Edward Wilson, believably acted by Damon, a Yale educated pioneer of the CIA (or CIA as they say, "When we talk about "CIA" why we never use the word "the" in front of it.
And I asked him, do you put the word "the" in front of "God"? ) Within this film, one sees that not everything is what it seems, even the people closest to you, while exposing the secrets, lies and misinformation that is the business of the CIA.
Notable performances by Matt Damon, Tammy Blanchard and Michael Gambon.
